The city of Donaldsonville celebrated its 200th birthday on April 28-30, 2006.  Our group had a table in the Heritage Tent telling people about the Canary Islanders who settled just south of Donaldsonville along Bayou Lafourche.  Mr. John Hickey, Vice-President presented a short program on the story of our people and how they came to be in South Louisiana.
