El Hierro is the smallest island of the archipelago. Its steep rocky coast is very different from the wide beaches which are dominating on the islands. Valverde is the island's capital, a picturesque small settlement with gardens and parks, an interesing fortified church and a nice square which offers a great view over the sea.
